In a statement made by the Editors, guitarist Chris Urbanowicz has decided to split from the band based on future musical direction disagreements.
The following was posted by Editors…
Editors and Chris Urbanowicz part ways
In a decision entirely based upon future musical direction, and with huge sadness, Editors and Chris Urbanowicz have parted ways…
“In ten years we’ve gone from playing tiny clubs in Birmingham to having number one records in several countries, selling out massive shows across the globe and headlining festivals as four friends together so this was a massively painful decision for all of us to make.
We wish Chris the best of luck in his future endeavours, and expect you all to do the same. The parting is amicable and however sad things are right now we all hope we’ll continue to be friends for many years to come.”
Tom, Russ and Ed are continuing to work on album four with Flood, play their headline festival slot at Rock Werchter and perform at Arras Main Square Festival in June.

Aaron’s Modern Monday recommendation this week is ‘A Strange Education’ by The Cinematics of Scotland. Although no longer together, guitarist Larry Reid continues to make music with his current band Laurence and the Slab Boys. ‘A Strange Education’ seems to draw a dance-pop influence from other bands of within the past few years such as Elefant, The Kaiser Chiefs, and Franz Ferdinand.
Favorite tracks: Ready Now, Keep Forgetting, Sunday Sun.
Track Listing:
1. Race To The City

Aaron’s Modern Monday recommendation this week comes from London, England. Still Corners latest release, Creatures of an Hour on Sub Pop Records, reminds one of dream-pop music of the mid 80′s and currently similar to the band Warpaint.

“Kellogg’s has created a new breakfast cereal after reading a tweet by Tim Burgess. The Charlatans‘ frontman inadvertently inspired Totes Amazeballs, which will be sold exclusively at the Kendal Calling music festival in July.
It started last month with an innocent, joking tweet: “Just invented a breakfast cereal called Totes Amazeballs™,” Burgess wrote. “Kellogg’s are interested.”
Of course, Kellogg’s weren’t really interested – Burgess had just made the cereal up. “I heard someone use the expression ‘totes amazeballs‘, and it sounded like something from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” he told the Manchester Evening News. “But within an hour [Kelloggs had] got in touch.”
Within weeks, Kellogg’s had produced a mock-up of Totes Amazeballs, replete with Burgess’s grinning face. “They’re schhhweet!” he says on the box. But this isn’t exactly a healthy bowl of Weetabix: the contents include Coco Pops Rocks, shortbread, raisins and “squidgy marshmallows”. “It was just something that was funny, and it just kept moving,” Burgess told NME. The cereal tastes “like Rocky Road”, he added. “It’s the Jazz Odyssey of breakfasts … Something you’d eat at a festival that’d get you back on your feet.”
Though Amazeballs will never be available in shops, Burgess will be selling them at the cafe he is organising at the Kendal Calling festival, which will be called Tim Peaks. Proceeds will go to the David Lynch Foundation.
Burgess is completing work on his new album, recorded in Nashville with Lambchop’s Kurt Wagner. He plans to release”something pretty special” for April’s international record store day.” -

Morrissey ‘Viva Hate’ Re-release this March
EMI Press Release
EMI Present:
‘Viva Hate’
Remastered by Stephen Street
Release date: 26th March 2012
And
Record Store Day Single:
‘Suedehead (Mael Mix)’
Remixed by Ron & Russell Mael
Release date: 23rd April 2012
EMI are pleased to announce the release through the classic Liberty label of a remastered version of Morrissey’s debut album Viva Hate, and limited edition Record Store Day Ron & Russell Mael remix of his debut single ‘Suedehead (Mael Mix)’.
Upon its release in 1988, Viva Hate announced to the world Morrissey’s debut as a solo artist with an outstanding collection of songs which included the singles ‘Suedehead’ and ‘Everyday Is Like Sunday’. The album charted at no. 1, having a chart stay of 20 weeks between March and August 1988, vindicating Morrissey in the face of those who doubted his ability to transcend The Smiths.
The album has now been remastered by original producer Stephen Street and the artwork – whose photo was changed for an EMI centenary edition in 1997 – has had the original photo restored. In addition, it features ‘Treat Me Like A Human Being’, which replaces ‘The Ordinary Boys’, and a written introduction from Morrissey’s long-time confidant Chrissie Hynde.
Previously unseen, stunning photos from Jake Walters and Kevin Cummins adorn the sleeves and booklet. The album will be available on CD and vinyl. The LP version will be a 180g heavyweight, gatefold vinyl, housed in a wide-spine sleeve with a pull-out poster. The CD will be housed in a gatefold, card sleeve.
Following the album’s release, on April 23rd EMI will release a limited edition 10-inch picture disc (Kevin Cummins’ photo) of ‘Suedehead (Mael Mix)’, a remix of the song by Ron & Russell Mael, who have taken the track and given it their distinctive, inimitable touch: the perfect alliance between two artists who have great admiration for each other. The single will be b/w two previously unreleased BBC live tracks: ‘We’ll Let You Know’ and ‘Now My Heart Is Full’, recorded at London’s Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in February 1995.
